Coordinated movement for complex suture patterns
3D seam welding machines from Klumpp Welding are designed for components with spatially curved or rotationally symmetrical geometries — wherever simple robot axes are not sufficient. The workpiece is clamped into a robot axis and actively moved during the welding process while the torch is guided at the same time. In this way, three-dimensional seams can be produced precisely, automatically and repeatably — for example on radiator grilles or other complex-shaped components.

FAQs
As an extension, the system can be designed to allow multiple robots to work simultaneously and components to be additionally pivoted via further driven axes. Positioning and tack welding can take place within a single machine, without employees having to intervene again.
There is no limit to the length of the workpieces.
These machines offer a very high degree of automation, aiming to operate with minimal human intervention.
In principle, any materials can be processed.
There is no limit to the thickness of the materials.
Both are possible. In 3D seam applications, it often involves navigating around corners and precisely positioning the seam using camera tracking.
